Are ANIMATE components protected against spillage?
IP ratings identify levels of protection of people from, and water ingress to, hazardous parts. Within the ANIMATE range, the user-facing TUF-HP USB modules are completely low voltage (under 30V DC).
TUF-HP USB modules have been designed to minimize the effect of inadvertent spillage, and have integrated drain holes. Because of their low voltage and drainage holes, TUF-HP can be mounted in a horizontal surface. Electrical safety in wet or spill-prone areas is enhanced with ANIMATE, because the high voltage (110-230V AC) components such as the Power Supply Unit (PSU) and AC connectors (GST18), can all be installed remotely from any liquid hazard.
Effectively, whilst the low voltage makes TUF-HP intrinsically safe, it should not be put in a position that repeatedly ‘gets wet’. Therefore in wet or spill-prone environments we still suggest TUF-HP modules are mounted in vertical surfaces to further reduce the possibility of liquid ingress.
