CASE STUDY

Sydney Grammar School, Sydney, Australia

Sydney Grammar School approached OE for a solution to their usually time-consuming setup process for the NAPLAN exams (Australia’s equivalent of the SATs). These exams require each student to use a laptop, and each laptop must remain charged throughout the 2-day exam period.

about this project

Historically, several teachers worked for three days to setup the four exam rooms, running mains power cables between desks and taping them to the floor to prevent trip hazards. The cables then had to be checked and re-taped between exams, to maintain room safety.

The ideal scenario for Sydney Grammar School was to eliminate cables entirely, but the laptop batteries would not last the entire day, let alone the entire 2-day exam period.

After consulting with the OE team, the school trialled OE’s QIKPAC CARRY mobile battery, and it quickly became evident a battery solution would solve the school’s exam issues.

On install of 100 QIKPAC CARRY batteries and CHARGER BASE, teachers at the school praised the technology as a significant time saver and a much safer option than the mass of cables along the floor. They were also pleased with the simplicity of use and the ability to reconfigure the space quickly and easily without having to re-tape cables.

Sydney Grammar School maximized their investment by using the same QIKPAC CARRY  batteries in the library when it wasn’t exam season. Tables in the library were fitted with QIKDOC  and PORT  allowing the same battery to power multiple USB-C ports for groups to charge their laptops and other devices while studying.
