What is HDMI?

High-Definition Multimedia Interface

HDMI (High-Definition Multimedia Interface) is the technology used to connect HD devices, such as cameras and game consoles, to any device that is capable of receiving an HD signal, for example, a TV.  An HDMI connection can deliver a crystal-clear viewing experience without sacrificing sound quality.

What is the maximum length of an HDMI cable?

Several factors influence the maximum length of an HMDI cable. Every connection added to the HDMI cable degrades the signal; to avoid loss of signal restrict the number of connections added to as few as possible. The media input can also influence the maximum length of an HDMI cable, as the higher the media input definition, the shorter the cable will be before the loss of signal occurs

What length of cable does OE Electrics Supply?

Because of the associated issues with long cables, we supply cables in 1.8m, 3m, and 5m, this allows for the length of other cables within the installation. Should you require a longer cable then we can provide an HDMI extension, that connects to the end of the standard cable via a coupler. This solution will allow you to install a repeater if required to improve the HDMI signal.

Here at OE, we exclusively use High Speed (category 2) HDMI cables, which can perform at speeds of 340Mhz, or up
